BIOGRAPHY

Nicolas Jara (Nic) is a filmmaker and creative producer from the Bay Area currently nestled in Los Angeles. Nic attended San Francisco State University where he received degrees in Cinema and Anthropology. 

 

Nic wrote, directed and produced his first short film GUARDIAN which received a Barbara Hammer Grant, was selected into a dozen film festivals, and garnered awards for Best Direction and Best LGBT Film. The short has been viewed over 120,000 times online and was acquired by NCV Media for their Male Gaze short anthology in the UK. Nic has worked in a variety of positions in the film, tv music, and commercial industries including as an Editor for Republic Records, a Video Producer at Eames Institute, and Assistant Director for Google digital campaigns.

 

Nic has directed and produced films that have screened at SCAD, Outfest, Raindance, New Fest, CAAM, San Diego Latino Film Festival, San Francisco Black Film Festival, and Outfest Fusion. He is are a former 2020 Outset Fellow and continues to create in a variety of mediums and disciplines.
